DuraRing · KANJI QUIZ
About these kanji quizzes
Learn about DuraRing’s kanji quizzes, references, original examples, illustrations and corrections.
One word at a time, in the context of reading
DuraRing’s quizzes explore Japanese kanji through readings, meanings and usage. The three series cover words found in books, everyday kanji and easily confused readings.
Try a reading, open a hint if needed, then reveal the answer to explore the meaning and examples. Difficulty stars are a guide within these quizzes; they do not represent a school grade or an examination level.
References and explanations
References for readings, meanings, radicals and stroke counts appear in each quiz’s hint or answer. Links to dictionaries such as Kanjipedia let you consult the source explanation.
- Explanations are written for learning, and example sentences are created for this site. Any quotation from a book is identified separately with its source.
- A kanji can have multiple readings and meanings. Read the question and example to understand the intended context.
- Radical classifications and stroke counts can differ between dictionaries. Refer to the source identified on the page.
Illustrations and AI
AI-generated illustrations are labeled. They help readers imagine a scene; they are not evidence for a word’s meaning or origin. Consult the references when checking a definition.
